Title: Partial lock-up
Post by: peter060 on June 12, 2008, 08:36:15 PM
I have a 87 Cherokee, Just got it on the road, I'm having a problem of the front almost locks up when in 4WD and going in reverse. I know the front drivers U-joint needs replacing but it's not that bad as to cause a lockup.... Any hints ????

Well it  seems that the front diff  partially  jams , it seems to happen morewhen turning the wheels to the right, almost like the brakes are engaging , it drags

Just curious.... where do you test it also.. on the pavement?  You Heep on 4WD will never turn properly on the pavement...I'm sure you know that... just checking  ;)

Change your u-joints (do NOT buy the cheap u-joints... get Spicers.... trust me) and check your wheel bearings...
