Title: First time Jeep Owner!

Hey guys!

Long time lurker, first time Jeep Owner, and I need some advice.

I just bought an 08 Rubi, and sadly none of it's 2500 kms so far have been off road (well, gravel road, but that doesn't count).

Anyways,  I'm going to be back in town this weekend, and my g/f wants me to take her and her kid out for a BBQ, and some star gazing (the kid is really into astronomy, and just got a new telescope).  Anyways,  I don't know any of the trails around Calgary, and was wondering if anyone could recomend a good spot to go.  It has to meet a couple of requirements though.

1)  I am a ROOKIE wheeler, so the trial must be fairly easy (since we are coming back in the dark I would prefer something very easy, but I'll manage).
2) Somewhere somewhat close to calgary - I would say within a 45 min drive?
3) somewhere where there might be a clearing where the kid can set up the telescope

any suggestions?

as the trails are very sloppy and running them is not helping them might i suggest jumping pound road from sibbald lake camp ground to mcleans creek its a gravel closed in wiinter kinda road might be a bit muddy and all in all a decent day......jujst dont venture too far from road not good for mother nature good luck

Sounds good to me - last thing I want to do is tear up the trails.

there is an observatory just south of calgary.  just west of spruce meadows.   great for viewing,  goodle it.
  you have to take a dirt road to get there   haha  thats offroading to people i  know.
