Title: electric cooling fan on XJ
Post by: Rubber Boots on June 23, 2008, 10:03:45 PM
My electric fan has quit working on my Cherokee and I don't know why.  I have hard wired the fan to the battery and the fan is working that way.  I tried replacing the relay that is supposedly controlling the fan but to no avail.  the 20amp fuse is fine as well.  All I can think of is that what ever is controlling the fan is packed it in but I don't know what it is or even where it is.  Any input on this would be appreciated as it really sucks to have to drive around with the interior heat on in this weather.
Thanks, Gavin

Check your rad temp switch, it should give you power at 190 degrees F - don't know where it is
There is also a fuseable link on the end of the red wire coming from the relay

would that switch be what monts into the side of the thermostat housing?  Lookes like an O2 senser?

ok I have replaced the sensor/switch in the thermostat manafold and the fan still isn't running.  Where exaclty is the fusable link on the line coming from the relay?  I really don't want to tear the whole harness apart trying to find it.

Ahh to Hades with it, I am just going to run a line from the battery, through a relay and to a switch inside.
