Title: Track Bar issue
Post by: Rubber Boots on July 01, 2008, 08:38:14 PM
Sigh, You would think from all the post that my Jeep is falling apart.  She isn't but there you know how it goes.  always more than one thing comes up at a time.  I have known for a while that my track bar was having troubles with the bushing on the body end.  I also know that I can't just replace the bushing on a stock track bar.  I know I can get a replacement bar that allows replacement of the bushing but I was hoping there might be a cheaper way to modify the factory one to the same end.  Any Ideas?
Gavin

Oh and how do I remove the track bar?  I was able to remove the castle nut from the body mount, but couldn't get the bolt to drop out.

I don’t know if you can change the factory boot. To get it out you will need a pickle fork. CT, PA, House of tools all sell them.

Wack the frame bracket with the round end of a big heavy ball peen hammer to get the taper on the TRE to release.  Just replace the whole thing if the axle end bushing is bad then most likely the TRE is shot as well.

Good time to upgrade to a aftermarket adjustable unit.
