Title: What is a bad arse Mufller?
Post by: CalgaryToad on July 16, 2008, 04:20:07 PM
Hey I want to cut the cat and the old muffler on my 1998 Cherokee sport. 4.0l

I want to get a kick arse muffler.. Something throaty, angry, bad F%$%in arse. Any ideas?
I hear that Minuit muffler is a good place to go. But I have no idea what to get.

I was reading 2.25" makes for some good hp and sound improvements.

Suggestions.

Looking to spend 100 - 200$ installed if possible?!

i got one years ago from napa. it was through one of there exhaust catalogs. it wasnt a lot of money at all, but gave me what you are looking for. i also ditched my cat. but i dont have a O2 sensor after mine so its no issue for me. different story for you. look for a open/double chamber fully welded muffler. should be 2.25 in and out anyways.

I'm running Dynomax, it gives a nice "snarl' to the 4.0L...also ditched the cat.

bigger the pipe, the deeper the tone.  i had a 2.5 inch on my yj, sounded good.  i think i had a flo-pro on it.  just have it exit somewhere it wont get crushed offroading
