What is the best tire for ice? Winter will be here soon and I drive a YJ. I will need to replace the tires and not sure what works better on ice.
Had BFgoodrich and Cooper but they are not very good. What do you use?

do you want mud or all terrain tires? if all terrain is what you are looking for the nlook o the bfg a/t, or the goodyear silent armor(i worked for goodyear for many years, very good tire.
if you want mud a mud tire ive been using goodyear MT/R's and had very good winter performance with them. if you want better, get them siped. i know Kal tire does siping. from what ive seen and heard its worth every penny:)

Nothing beats a studded mud tire.
For non studs, basic street tire, Nokian makes awesome ice tires.
For a good allround offroad tire the Truxus MTs or if you want something more aggressive the IROKS.

Just ice? Blizzaks, period! Siping IS the key. Any major brand name with lots of siping will work. BUT they will wear out very fast in dry conditions. I wouldn't waste my time (or money) siping any offroad or mt tire if your doing lost of road driving. Two sets is the answer....just a pain in the butt to change them around.

Shhhhhh, don't say that too loud!

Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT, studded is the best.

People suggesting all season tires have no clue. People running all seasons in the winter should not be allowed on the road when it snows.
