Title: Cherokee Question...

So im looking at an 89 cherokee and it starts fine but does not run properly because it backfires... anyone have any idea's as to what this problem is?  ;D

Oh do I buddy! There are a few things that cause this issue,.. How much is it? Check the air filter for oil too,.. tells you about the condition of the motor, oily filter = bad.  Reach on the back d/s of the motor down to the tranny and wiggle the black connector going into the bellhousing,.. should straighten it out, or does it have exhaust leaks,..or lastly timing chain,.. He wants 600 bucks for it with 300 000 KM... i havent actually gone to check it out yet so just lookin for pointers on what i should look for  :) thanks jenssen
