Um, thats illegal.... if someone was to find out they could sue the pants off you!!!!! Its called "FRAUD" and I'm pretty sure there are other laws about rolling back the numbers as well or even knowingly messing with a speedometer for fraudulent purposes. If the person that bought his jeep saw his ad he'd be in a lot of trouble.  Also if CJA was smart they would wipe this whole post so that no one gets any ideas and then claims they got it from their web site!

Up until now, I wasn't sure where the eeprom was that held the ODO information. I thought it was in the ECU.  I bet there *is* a way to see that it has been changed/fudged with by a dealer or perhaps even OBDII.

I'm too honest to do something like that on purpose...

The mileage should be stored in the ecm as well you gust need a reader to access it. That is why when I buy used vehicles and mileage seems fishy I get it checked. This is an old trick that I have seen before.

hey Zjay, glad you never thought to do that, for those of us who buy used jeeps, its nice to know what we're buying is legitimate

yea man it sucks, my bro bought a zj a few years back. When he was installing the stereo he took the cluster out to run some wires. Found some tape on it that said actual km +30000 or somthing along thoes lines. He was pretty fumed, at least the p/o offerd to buy it back or give him like 500 or 1000 back cause he just forgot to mention it.
