Can anyone help me with this problem, didn't have it this spring but it just started about 2 months ago. Ian, maybe you have some input. Thanks, Doug

That's a problem I have seen many times, Sometimes I have even solved it ;D. The first thing i would do is to look at all the connectors both antenna and dc. first on the CB . since it used to be fine it is likely something simple like a dirty/corroded connector. Next I would try to determine where the static is entering the CB. Is it coming through the antenna or DC. Disconnect the cb antenna, key up the 2m radio, if it goes away then you have a starting point. Try a different antena on the cb a mag mount would be good.
I have assumed you have adjusted the squelch on the cb. ;) and checked VSWR.
Try a different antenna on the 2m, again a magnetic mount helps.
Do you have an external speaker on the CB, try unplugging it.
Borrow a friends cb and try it in your jeep..
Have a friend park his jeep next to yours, see if his or hers, recieves the interference.
Does it make a difference what channel either the cb or the 2M is on.
Do you have a portable, you could tune to the same freq as the mobile,
Can you change the out put power on the 2M Hi/Lo setting?
It just goes on and on sometimes.
Do you know anyone that would come over and help you, (I think you do :))

Thanks for the pointers Ian, I'll give them a try during the next week or so, I'll be in Grande Prairie from Monday to Wednesday and tomorrow I will be tied up in the morning. Then we have to go to Edmonton on the next weekend for my grand daughter's birthday. I do have a portable CB as well as a CB in another unit and a hand held 2 m radio. I also have mag mount antennas for the cb and 2 m radios. I could pretty much do all of these checks. Once I get everything checked out, I'll let you know. As I'm writing this, I do remember I did move the radios around, the 2 m was in the front and cb in the back but I did splice the power supplies and move them to the other location. Thanks again. Thanks for the advise Ian, I started as per your list, not necessarily in that order but I believe it's my 2 m antenna. I pulled it apart and it is all corroded inside on the connections and the internals fell out. I have another magnetic base 2 m antenna for another 2 m, not tuned for this radio but I hooked it up and had no static. I then reassembled the one on the jeep and lots of static again. I'll pick a new one up and try that out. How would I tune that antenna, do I use the same AWR meter as the CB or is it a different meter? Thanks, Doug

Different meter, I happen to have one for 2M... as well as my CB one.

I have a cb meter but could we possibly get together when I get a new antenna installed and have you tune it or something? Thanks Pat

Sure, sounds good.... tho the last CB I tried to tune turned out to be a bad antenna mount... which after being fixed to work fell off during our run. Hope I wasn't the bad luck :D
I am taking off about 3 weeks starting in September because my wife has surgery on the 22'nd, so I may have a lot of time at home doing nothing other than entertaining a 3 year old!

I have a bird with the req'd slugs for most of the common freq's. Life just got a little more complicated today, So time may be a even bigger issue. My household just grew by one :) A 16 year old swiss hockey player named Frank

Interesting... yes, a Bird has to be the best meter out there if you have the slugs for the right frequencies, that's for sure. They use one at work, but I'm not sure what slugs they have, nor am I actually in that department (yet?).
A thought might be a pre-meeting tunefest <lol>.

Well, I changed out the 2m antenna and still have the static, I put a second cb in the unit and that has static. I used my hand held 2m and have no static. Could it be a grounding issue with the 2m? Thanks,

Hi Pat, just got back from Edmonton about 15 minutes ago. I have both radios out of the jeep now. What does tomorrow look like?

So far tomorrow, I'm receiving a bed for my 3 year old from a friend, other than that, it's up in the air. A fellow wants me to come to see and probably buy parts for the Jeep, but we're calling tomorrow to arrange.
What's your schedule look like? I should have time in-between :)

I am haveing a broblem with my CB aswell, I can't recive or send anything and I can't find my problem ?
