I missed the run on the 14th because I had to work >:(, so I'm hoping to get out this coming weekend. Hopefully by then I will have my bumper and winch mounted ;D
Anyone interested? I'm thinking Waiparous, but I'm open to suggestions.
Edit: Okay, we're now talking about a run on Saturday the 21st. Stocker friendly, by the way!
-
hmmmm.... sounds like fun, since I have replaced my u-joint.
-
Sounds good. You get stuck, I'll pull you out?
Gee....I hope I've got my winch mounted up by then. Otherwise things may get a little bit interesting.
-
What day were you thinking? I would prefer the Saturday.
-
I'm grounded till after Mclean opens

Rookies are welcome! As long as you've got reasonable tires and recovery points, it's all good.
The only folks that I think should stay home are those who choose to wheel in a way that puts others at risk.

I'm in if you're doing Saturday. Smitty's in Cochrane 8:00 am? There might be a couple of other FWS guys interested.

Smitty's at 8:00 for breaky, then everyone fueled up and ready to roll at 9:00. (provided that works for the group)
How does Margaret lake sound? I haven't been up that particular stretch of trail yet.
-
i was out last weekend it was nice easy the lake was good one hill might be a bit icy due to some goof beans that were out there but should be doable if the sun gets to it this week
im in Saturday
got the winch (its big)
CB and tow points
See you boys out there
everything should be fine maybe the river crossings should be taken with caution as they were a bit soft on the top last weekend
-
i would love to go unfortunately i got no tow points yet. and 1 got room for an extra?
-
I'm thinking that maybe the only spot that we'll be looking to cross the river will be just a little upstream of the cadet camps - I can't remember the milepost there (and my map is ouside in the Jeep), but it's where you'd cross the river after heading north from the Meadow Creek area. Given how broad and shallow the river is there, we should be in good shape.
You're welcome to ride shotgun with me, Joker. My girlfriend in in Vancouver on Saturday, so there's lots of room!
-
alright cool, did you go to the meeting tonight out of curiosity?
-
I did. Did we look at your TJ after the meeting?
-
yes, alright cool just wanted to match a face to the name. but ya if i could ride with you that be great.
-
we crossed the river just down the hill from the gravel pit last weekend and it was solid but slushy
and when we left we drove out by the camp and the little bridge was under a foot of water .
should make things fun
first one to get stuck buys the beer ( unless its me )
-
BOO! I was hoping for some rice ;)
Saturday will work just fine for me.
Ya
in the middle of moving and I promised some quality time after going twice in 1 month to wheel.
on a side note:

I'm gunna try to make this one, maybe I'll ride with slim
-
I'm in, no winch but I've got all other requirements. Sounds like the wife and kids want to come for a ride too.

Sounds good to me, DAC. There will be lots of folks without winches on this run (well, at least one - ME!)
-
I can come out if it's okay with everybody. I have a winch, and will help out if I can. I was out last weekend and it wasn't bad at all!

As I'm one of the FWS guys heading out that day as well, I noticed that there's only one member of CJA responding for this run. I'm in no way suggesting that any of you do, but if there is anyone responding that enjoys a beverage or other wise on the trail please let me know now, even just with a PM. I don't care for surprises and don't care to embarass anybody on the run, so I'd much rather go a separate way right off the bat.
I know CJA's policy for no booze on the cruise, just like ours, but I haven't met most of the guys responding to this thread.
See you Saturday.

I'm with you on this one!
In the past, there have been times when I just stayed home instead of joining a run with people that I knew to be irresponsible.
As far as I'm concerned, everyone (and any 4X4) is welcome, provided that:
-You have recovery points (if you don't, pulling you out puts myself or others at more risk)
-you aren't drinking or indulging in other substances
-You wheel responsibly (on the trail, and within the limits of your rig and your experience)
-Bring warm clothing (preferably NOT cotton), lunch, and adequate water.
CB's are nice, but not a must-have in a small group on a moderate trail. Tow straps/yank straps/tree savers/snatch blocks/winches/shovels/axes/saws/first aid kits/tools are great to have...but if you're in a pinch, you can certainly borrow mine. Well, not the winch, since that won't be mounted by Saturday. ::) You'll have to drive back to Calgary if you want to use my winch.
