Hah, no complaints about building up a free ZJ. Are you planning on sticking with the 3.5" lift or going bigger?
-
sticking with some of the 3.5" lift for now
-
I saw you towing this in on deerfoot south, by 32nd last week, the diver let me in from the merge lane in heavy traffic! So thanks and good luck with the build. I miss my zj!

yes they do but with the jks trac bar you use a jonny joint style end there and run a big bolt through. I will post up a pic...

Rear locker is in ;D had some stuff around for inboard air for sometime now. So it seems like the jeep thing to do so I started installing it. The yellow air line reaches all 4 tires nicely. still need some work to get the mounts looking good (paint/ grinding/cutting) but when done the air line and tools will fit in the mount. Compressor fits very well under the rear seat.

Front dana30 now has 4:88 gears and the rear Dana 35 has been replaced by a ford 8.8 with 4:88 gears and a Eaton e-locker
One of the bigger upgrades so far came from me going through 2 42re auto transmissions ::)in a week
Installed an ax15 5speed and 231 transfer case to fix this problem from ever happening again.
With the 231 it made for a very flat tummy
(http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k191/LEMONAIDJAY/IMG-20121022-00077.jpg)
Will post pictures of the interior as soon as it's finished.
All so running 35 " tires soon to go to 40's after some more upgrades like an exo and boat sides plus more.
Studed federals.
And an exo that I like but will need to still run head lights on mine

Nice! Do you think a D30/8.8 will stand up to 40s? Wouldn't you want something lower than 4.88s for 40s?

I didn't say I was going to keep the 30 and 8.8 ;D ;)
-
looks hella cool Jay!

Ahh. I was wondering about that as you just installed them but said you were going to 40s shortly. When you've got a shop and hoist changing diffs is no big deal.
-
What kinda studs did you install on the federals? Hmm there are no existing holes for studs.

Turns out that at e-mortal we can drill and stud any tire. ;D
-
So those are not the studs that you can remove at the end of the winter season?

Yes they can be removed

That's sick! Working on my jk now, worried about lifting it and voiding my Warranty. Is there a specific lift that won't void it?

There's really no right answer to that I think it comes down to the dealer you deal with.

In my personal experience, dealerships will do anything to avoid honoring a waranty. Not just Jeeps...Kia, GM. They have their little tricks to f@#k you over. Here's a perfect example: We bought a 2008 Kia Sedona with all the bells and whistles. We bought it because of 2 reasons. 0% financing and the 5 year/100k bumper to bumper waranty.
2.5 years and 50k later the A/C stopped working. They recharged it (at a cost to us) and it still didn't work. we took it back for waranty and they said that if it was defective, they would cover it under the waranty, but the test (pressure test) to see if it was defective was not covered and that would cost us $700 weather it was defective or not.
BTW, I would never buy a Kia again based on the problems and poor service we had with this van.

Well you said it yourself...you bought a Kia....I have heard many complaints about bargain brand warranties..... they gotta make their money somewhere... if not on one end its on the other. Even Chrysler will cover diagnostics if it is in-fact a warranty issue ....GM, Ford and A lot of Japanese brands have whats called comprehensive warranty for 3 years or 60k which means absolutely everything is covered. After that it is the same story for drive components on the power train
-
Not wanting to cover things under warranty is common to ever dealer that I've ever dealt with. I had the service manager of a dealership tell me "Well they're all like that, it's just how they are, there's nothing I can do" when I pointed out to him that the parking brake on my two-month-old vehicle wouldn't keep it from rolling across the floor of his service department.
I have very little respect for dealerships, and less for their service departments. That doesn't mean that there aren't any good people working in those service departments...but I definitely know of a number of stand-up guys that no longer work at dealerships - at least on of their departures was at least partially based on not liking how their bosses treated the customers.
