Title: stupid question, and I did try searching.
Post by: boosnie on February 17, 2011, 04:12:23 PM
What's that thin plate that goes between the bellhousing and the engine block. Thus far today it's been called a clutch cover plate, engine plate, rear plate, dust plate, and clutch plate. Tried googling it and kept getting the same results.

so does it have a specific name, or is it just some random plate. I'm asking cause ing need to get one from a junk yard or something.

On my 73 chev pickup, it was called the inspection cover.

It seems as though transmission dust shield or dust cover, inspection plate, flex plate dust shield/cover, flywheel dust shield/cover are the most common names.
