Title: Jeep no start.
Post by: 03Jeeper on March 29, 2011, 04:33:08 PM
Well, as you all know, my jeep got totaled. I bought the salvage back and they dropped off the jeep today.

Everything looked good in the engine compartment, the only thing was the rad was torn up. I wanted to see if the engine would run etc.
The TJ turned over perfectly fine but didn't start-up.

I read on JF that if the impact is severe enough the fuel pump can be damaged.

Is there a safety device or something along those lines that causes this after airbags are deployed?

Any help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Older vehicles that were fuel injected used an inertia switch (rollover switch) that would cut power to the electric fuel pump. These switches needed to be manually reset and were usually located under the dash near the glove box. Sorry I don't know if the TJ has one.....

Did the airbags pop? Some vehicles automatically shut the motor off when the air bag pops. Not sure whats needed to get it going again.
