Title: "Blasphemy" Version 3.2
Post by: JENSSEN on June 07, 2011, 01:07:39 AM
The goal in4 weeks is  to do :
-weld on beadlocks (ordered)
-cage reinforcement
-linked and coiled rear
-tranny pan repair
-exhaust repair
-http://browndogindustries.com (http://"http://browndogindustries.com") motor mounts (ordered)
-maybe bigger tires
-u joint repair, batt relocation
-maybe a new winch (Kingone)
-Front diff skid plate

Who knows if I will get it all done but I am entered in the 2011 www.highriders.ca (http://www.highriders.ca) challenge and I want to come out with my Jeep in one piece. I will be calling in friends and favors on this one,...

Well the Chaos is about to begin,.. Blasphemy is finally in the shop!

Set the tail on the "stand"

going to be test fitting, XJ, TJ and what ever coils I can get my hands on to start the coil conversion,..

But during the week I got side tracked and did a 4" Iron Rock lift on the Wifey's Rubicon. My '93 XJ donated its rubber until I can get Her at least 33's under it. My XJ's cool factor has dropped 3-5 points since loosing its Rubi Wheels.

so Far I have wedged in some TJ stock front coils, but also have XJ stock and approx 2" coils as well,.. tell me more about these chev coils,...

Oh and the first of the rebuild parts arrived,.. Weld on outer beadlocks and inner bead stiffeners from SUREWAY Metals in Calgary Alberta.

Well I am not sure if you may or may not know this but if you plan on hard wheeling a Jeep with a 4.0you run the risk of sheering the bosses off the block like I did,...

To fix the issue at hand I purchase www.browndogindustries.com (http://www.browndogindustries.com) motor mounts.

First off, let Me say their customer service and knowledge of the 4.0 and Jeeps in general is amazing only trumped by their passion and the product they produce!

The mounts are VERY beefy, beautiful welds and a nice yellow powdercoat (I assume)

The hardware comes well packaged and easily identifiable and the instructions are very detailed

and obviously shows pride in the workmanship when they sign their product!

The install was very easy and took about 2 hrs to install with hand tools in my garage. I undid the motor mounts on both sides to the chassis and jacked up the motor enough to clear the frame mounts. Then removed the passenger side block plate. EASY! the only issue that slowed me down was one bolt that broke that took a bit to extricate.

and in,..

Fit like a glove!!

Now onto the passenger side :)

It went just as smoothly and actually faster over the driver side , the mount was a bit tight on the alternator but with some finesse on the alt mount it slid in.

Overall I love the product and it puts me one step closer to being ready for racing at www.highriders.ca (http://www.highriders.ca) Challenge . The cost is minimal for the amount of time that it would of taken to make them myself!

Just need to torque them all down and move onto the next project!

:)

I've been reading really good reviews of everything to do with the brown dog motor mounts, good to hear you were pleased as well.

Regarding Sureway, I've been talking to them a bit lately for work stuff (got a tour of one of their shops the other week, 120' long laser bed... and a 24' long break that can put a 90 in 3" plate... drool)
So the weld on bead locks, did you give them a file and they cut them out for you or do they already have that kind of thing in their  "Catalog"?

Start of the 4 link,.. Glenn helped me tonight and on 2.5 hrs we began,...

Stock XJ coil buckets:

Yes I am that "frugal" to reuse them,.. Freecycle anyone? :out:

Plasma'd that stuff down to size,..

Cut some brackets to "mock" up the stock XJ front buckets

I need to tack them in and test the ride height, then start the 4 link :)

I noticed you added a little saskatchewan flare to your four link... Pils has a strong taste but I don't know that their cans are strong enough for your suspension!
Great looking rig, going to be bring' er out to the show and shine, would love to see it up close

Better than ever to be honest, shocks need some tweaking at speed but the squat a WOT and down hill unloading are spot on, the truck is 10 times more stable bs the previous leaf set up

Hoping to but at the moment we need to trailer it due to no exhaust or wheel coverings
