Title: Tagged a Curb... Update..
Post by: scott slade on August 30, 2011, 04:00:19 PM
Dog ran out onto the street, slid in the rain and tagged a curb with the right front side of the tire.  The steering wheel is now sitting sideways about 15 degrees....   So it's wheel alignment time...!!!   Who do you recommend...????   Modern Motors

I was told today that the track bar is a bit bent, but everything else seems good.  Then why is the steering wheel cranked sideways...????   The Jeep pulls a bit to the right. all air pressure is good.  If the track bar bent, wouldn't the drag link take a big hit too...????

if your Jeep goes strait; just adjust your drag link.

I recommend http://www.4x4xplor.com/alignment.html. I used this write up after tweaking my tie rod and have had no problems. It blows my mind that some shops will try and stick you with a 4wheel alignment for a TJ.....you can't adjust the rear.....

Still goes straight, So I am putting a lot of hope in the bent drag link, or to adjust it....    I don't have the time right now to fix it myself, so being prepared with info before I hit a shop sure helps....!!!  Thanks Gang....

Modern does not have a rack. They will refer you to Kirks Tire on Blackfoot, just north of the casino. Great group of guys. I highly recommend them for alignments.

Hind Sight said....   yes.... it would have been the cost of a trip to the power wash if I had ran the dog over...  but being a dog lover and that unstoppable split second reaction... not to mention I was surprised how much I slid on the Nose Hill River while it rained...!!  Thanks for the heads up on Modern Motors not being able to align the front end....  did not know that..... ???

if your trac bar got bent its cuz your diff moved over and the reason your drag isnt bent is because it is not FIXED like your trac bar . so instead your steering wheel turned to compensate for the impact     if its pulling then its still will need an alignment after you center your diff

thats my answer

Scott.. there is lots of Trac bar kicking around... Heck, I might have one the garage.

I'll have to check with my better half...it's hers.

It's from an 2006 Rubi. They should fit. I'll have to check.

You're steering wheel should strait after... or you'll only need a little adjustment on the drag link. That's an easy fix.

I'll let you know about the TB

Cheers
