this was one of 3 tj kits that where done wayv back when... one is on erins tj, one is on jamies old jeep and one is finally here

someone at a shop somewhere convinced the owner that he could drop a hemi into a tj and still use this kit.....  Well rear driveshaft woulda never worked...

so clay had to extended the links add hydro assist and just in general make this thing eat the rock course(those pictures are on his camera)

]it was one cool rig when done and the owner was smiling form ear to ear...

this was done about 6 months back

Curious as to why you chose a radius arm set up over a 3 link? And the rear radius set up over a triangulated 4?

Nice truss work as usual.

The rear  sure look like a 4 link to me.

Now go out and draw 2 parrallel lines in the snow, about ten feet long and ten feet apart like this: I    I.

And then see if the jeep can drive from one line across the other under it's own power, that will be a real feat for that jeep.

I'm pretty sure EMF did the suspension work years ago before the Hemi went in.

yes clay did and when it left the shop it was working but when u throw a hemi in and tell the owner drive shafts will be same length.....

oh and this is the exact same kit thats on erins tj (dont ask)  and also on Jamies old tj which is now owned by little dave and is mean and flexy....(had it in the rock course a few month back)

i am sure he still has everythign for the kit... i know where erins kit is.... i could talk to him for sure...

this was a emf built tj long arm kit...

oh and this jeep that cant drive betwen parrelle lines was through our rock course with clay driving and the owner driving and went out on august long i do believe( or was it september)

overall this rig was a gong show i think everyone in the city had a hand on it but in the end it left our shop working awesome and finished

That thing should have been put to rest years ago. Multiple nervous brake downs, numerous burned bridges and years of cashed in RRSP's for that. I wonder if it was really worth it...

That's the world's most expensive TJ right there folks.

Where's the rope ladder for the little guy? or did Clay custom fab a hydro assist elevator for him?

Wonder if he's still cruisin past the high schools trying to impress the young ladies?

Hahaha!

lol cablesmurf u hit it right on the head there..... the suspension works awesome the engine is a boat anchor in my opinion... but that could be all the front wheel burnouts at another shop... it couldnt do a front dig with just the front hoked up drivin into the shop...

and answers to questions probally still cruizin and no elevator or hydro assit  stairs

if u think he spent 2000 on that your sadly mistaken... i know for a fact it was 30000 for the motor... we charged him 5000 this summer to extened the links and add the hydro assit...

cable smurf is right that thing has well over 40000 into it and its really nothing special

Let's all agree.   And hope it's finally done

And yes it's not what any of us would build.

 Wel maybe AV nine  Would

but for the rest of us we would of gone a different way with 60 - 100 g's
Into our rigs.

Maybe now since it's done we'll see it in the trails laying on it's side. Lol

Steve is doing well. He has a great fiancée and is a good guy.
Maybe we should just trash everyone on this site.
He will be the first to admit that he NEVER planned on dumping that kind of money into it when he began. IF it was done right from the start, it would have cost one third as much.
At what point do you give up when you have so much into it?
Good on him for finishing it.

this is a case of to many people telling them they could do something and really only one coming through at the end..

i had a real long talk with steve the one day out at the shop i was working on the mog buggy and no one was there but me and he stopped by to drop off some money for erin and clay...

crap some of the numbers he was saying for things that where done to it made my beans run away and those are mine i could imagine how he felt....

in the end the last bill he got was nothing compared to the rig he got finished product that thing was mean and i do believe one of the first through the rock course...

he honestley seemed like a pretty decent person and i went outta my way to make sure the day he picked it up everything was all good i painted all his links for him  and some of the rust from it sitting for years..

clay felt bad about having to charge him but having to fix other peoples handy work was making him really mad...

a small list of bullshit we had to deal with

given to us empty on fuel( tok a hour to figgure out the tank had a 1/4 tank but it had to be higher cause some moron plumbed the fuel system)

coilovers where all over the place one side cranked up the other loose....

all i know is that thing drove up the back hoe bucket with the rear pinned and it was still flexin....

oh and clay had it doing 110 down the back roads with no cage ( he reliezed the lack of cage at 110)

it may look big and stupid but so is the hog and guess what ttc champ and going back this year to destroy the last 20 years winners hopes

Steve is a great guy, I don't think anybody that knows him can argue that.

I have always joked about his rig (and will probably continue to do so :o)

He definitely has had his challenges with that build and honestly, hats off to him for persevering to the end. Many, MANY others would have thrown in the towel and either sold it off for next to nothing or parked it out behind a barn to rot.

The last time I saw it was when a shop in Crossfield had it's turn. I took a good look at the suspension (I think it was just put on) and came away quite impressed with the quality of build, it it such a shame Steve ran into a wall everywhere else he turned (or at least it seemed that way).

I hope he can get out and enjoy it now.

But if that was my rig, I would drop it down to about a 6" lift and run 37's or 38's and it would make a killer driver, both on-road and off.

Vince

Relax Guys, I've been friends with Steve since '98. I razz him because we're friends. I've wheeled with him many times, gone for drinks and spent countess hours wrenching with him. He's a good guy.

You guys are so sensitive...
