If I was just curious and wanted to browse some jeeps for sale down in the states is there anything like our kijiji or auto trader up here? I know they have craigslist but its kind of a pita compared to how you can select all your options on kijiji

Jeepforum.com has a whole classifieds section.

pirate...

I'll take a look at them thanks, I'm looking more for a stock jeep then a built one though

Pirate 4x4 ?
Really?
OP is looking for a near stock Jeep. Pirate has very few of those listed in the vehicles for sale section, and I should know as I view it daily. Jeepforum would be a better choice but ultimately Craigslist would be what I'd be eyeballing . You can find tons of mildly-built Jeeps there...or a chesterfield...or a hooker. Craigslist has it all.

On pirate you could find a hooker on a chesterfield in the back of a jeep though, gotta count for somethin right?

It's okay Kevin. You did well considering you're new to the Internet and what not. :-*

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it nearly impossible to get a modified rig through customs into Canada anyways?
-
I work in a CT shop and I've been friends with the gentleman who does their out of country inspections for a long time so if its modified isn't too big of a deal I'd just rather learn on my own then buy someone else's
-
My understanding was more getting it across the border if it was really much beyond stock
-
I ve heard of a lot off guys getting turned around with lifted full size trucks at the border. Shops in great falls were getting good at uplifting trucks. Most of the time the lift was getting shipped up and re installed after the out of country inspection was completed.

I bought a vehicle out of the US once using a broker service. Told them exaclty what I wanted, and what price range I wanted. They go to dealer auctions and buy it, then have it shipped up. It depends on how much you are looking to spend. If you are looking for a newer Jeep, then it would be worth it. If you are looking for a beater, then autotrader.com has a good search engine.

If it is 15+ years and older, any modifications are allowed to go through the border. i have got 2 from the USA. One 15+ and the other 15 less. The 15less is allowed upgraded tires/rims, that is it. Mine came with 35's.
