Aaron - you are the MAN!!!  Can you and Dom reach out to the other clubs and let them know the CJA is stepping up?

Gun - can you also please let your contacts know as well?  We can't forget the kids!   We will discuss more at this months meeting.

With construction on both the lots and bridge, I will be speaking to the powers that be at Edworthy Park. They also have the amennities we require, and the drive to ACH is still doable with a large convoy. I will be in touch with ACH tomorrow and follow up with updated info. I will also list items needed, and we will need our resident poster maker to whip something up.

This sounds like a great event! Is there a page / post somewhere that gives more details about what you're looking for, what happens, how people can help out, what to do, when & where, etc?

I found lots of posts from people who wanted to participate but no "main" post or event page.

It will be updated monday. Just waiting for confirmation from our venue and ACH.

Need to get the date set. Looking at dec 8th,day after teddy bear toss, and doesn't conflict with winter camp.  So far we are looking at either Baker park across from bowness or Hexsters parking lot. I will have an update monday with when/where and what we need from volunteer standpoint. Looks like we have alit of interest from other clubs, so the turnout should be amazing.

Here are the posters.  Please feel free to download these and print them off.  These will print off on 11x17 no problem.  I think it's about a buck a poster a Staples.

One poster is meant for boxes.  The other is the invite to come out to the event.

I also have TIF versions - PM me if you want those instead

Yikes, not much time.  Gunna have to push hard to get a good stash of goods.

Going to try and get a donation bin in all the Rona stores, also will try and get my wife to put one in her Best Buy location too.

We have a donation box set up at The Gear Shop for anyone in the NE/NW area.

Bay 14 1431 40 Ave NE

- Also, I had noticed on the poster that it says "a hamper for a family with a child". Does that mean that we're looking for more than just toy donations?
Title: Re: Christmas toy run update
Post by: apeman on November 28, 2012, 01:22:26 PM
right now the main goal is getting the boxes out, anywhere you think might help. Easy as printing the poster off, putting it on a box and getting them out. All toy and cash donations will be accepted, this is mainly for the kids remember.
Volunteers are needed still for the drop off and pickup of the boxes. Even in the short notice,i think we can still accomplish our goal.

I've got a truck as well, so could help do a box pick-up-run.

Is there a list of locations for these boxes? It would be useful info to provide with Facebook msgs, Tweets, etc to people asking them for donations.

Post by: apeman on December 04, 2012, 02:02:30 PM
If we can get a post up of locations of the boxes currently, so i can arrange pickup on the friday evening, it would be most helpful.
i sent pm's to a few people looking to volunteer for set up. thanks to everyone.
See everyone saturday! Might be chilly but should be a good turn out.

I have donation bins being setup in the Westhills and MacLeod trail Rona's. I have also confirmed a $200 donation from the Crowfoot location.

I can pickup the donation bins from these locations on Friday night.

Aaron, i can not attend the run as o work and by the time i get out of my clinic and back to that area, you guys will probably be done. i would like to donate to this event. Who do i make the cheque payable to?
If there is anyway someone attending the event can come by my clinic Friday (8-noon and 3-6pm) or Sat (open at 9am) and grab it that would be great.
Let me know.
i am located in Avenida plaza (where the Tim Hortons is) for anyone reading this that could swing by to pick up the cheque.

See everyone at the xmas party later 8)

I picked up another xbox360 today, and dropped it off to hen mclaren, along with lego star wars, and 3 kinect adventure games.
We donated 2 xbox's last year also so any kids games and dvds are a great way for them to pass the time. Please no kinect games. I can explain later.
Thanks for everyones support,I look forward to seeing a good turnout tomorrow despite the weather.

I know we (FWS) have tried various ideas to keep the interest up for attendance. A pancake breakfast was organized by Richard and his wife Andrea last year and held at a community hall and it seemed to turn out quite well. The pancake and sausage breakfast raised  a good chunk of change to be donated to the recipeint last year.
Hey Gun, how many guys from FWS showed up this year?

Hey folks, when everyone was packing up in the parking lot to head up to the Children's Hospital, somebody grabbed the two folding tables to return to the owners. Can that person PM me to let me know where those are? They haven't been returned yet.

Thanks!
