Dom, I won't be able to help you on this one
But here is the low done
1. Measure the wheelbase. Best way it to go from outside rim edge to outside rim edge. Just make sure if you measure from the leading edge on the front you measure to the leading edge on the back.
2. Vehicle drives up
3. Measure from the center of the front wheel down to the start of the ramp.
4. Take the distance travel up the ramp and divide it by the wheelbase
5. Multiple by 1000.
6. Have a BEvERage.
Ex. If my YJ (WB = 93.4") drove up the ramp a distance of 73", then my score would be 73/93.4*1000 = 782
Here are a couple of links

I don't know how to do them either, but with Scott's directions, and the use of a calculatrice, we should do ok.
I'll give you a hand, let me know the details, when, where, etc.
Cheers

BEWARE of cheaters :D
Cheating on a ramp is when you only air down 2 tires and not 4.
Cheating on a ramp is also when you air down below the psi you normally run on the trails.
Cheating is when you disconnect your shock.

OK, how about swaybars and trackbars?
What about not airing down at all? (Or which two tires?)
-
Basically, you set your rig up as you NORMALLY would for a trail ride. If you only go down to 15psi, than that is how you should ramp it.
If you disconnect swaybars, than go do it for ramping.
If you have no trackbar, than no need to get one :)
If you want to see the difference airing down makes, give it an "unofficial" try at lower psi, about 10psi would probablly score about 2-300 higher than 15psi. And when you see the difference, you may even try a trail at that psi to see how much more performance you may gain  And next year you can ramp it "officially" at 10psi
The biggest advantage you can get is letting air out of the front driver and rear passanger, this will produce the highest score.
The measurement is taken at the point that the rear driver tire starts to get "air". Have the competitor back down a "tad" to get the proper measurement with all tires making contact with ramp or ground.
We have always used the centre of the rim to the centre of the rear rim to get our wheelbase. It just has to be "close" when you measure.
Of course if this ramping is entirely for fun with no prizes and no bragging rights, than do whatever you want:D
-
Thanks Tom for all the tips!!!! It sure will help!!!! :D
I think this even is just for fun... :D :D :D
It will be from noon to 14:00 on Sat. the 5th @ National 4WD on 46th ave. SE.
Chris ... I see you there? please bring the calculator!!!

YES :D

YES :D
lol....damn the truth hurts!!!
Looks like Ian and Chris will be doing the ramping while I'll be stuffing my face with hot dogs. 8)
Thanks guys!!!!!

Hey Dom,
As per the instructions on "how you work the ramp" You must keep all 4 wheels on the ground. Drive up the ramp until one wheele lifts off the ground, back up the vehical until the wheel touches and then measure.

Day was great!!!! I scored 702 on the ramp... it's not that great but I'll take it. Milan had a PERFECT score... He scored 1000.. CONGRATS!!! 8)
-
680ish for me, guess i am going to have to spend some bucks.
Gotta beat that french guy's xj :D
-
Dom you only got 702, I would have expected more from you. Last year at Apex I scored a 786, so in your face :D
-
Here's a good link to explain the whole math part of it and a calculator, If you have a forklift or another means or lifting the tire you can calculate without the ramp, 1000 is a good score but there is no perfect score, I've seen many rigs reach scores of 1600 and more, NEway enjoy....
forgot to add the link

we'll have to try it again just me and you.... It was my first time...You probably practiced 200 times. It does not count if you put a rock under your back tire when it lifts off the ground!!!

Now you are just trying to make up excuses for being beat down by a OLD LEAF-SPRUNG YJ. Plus I only ramp my Jeep once a year which is at Apex.
Hey Brian, what kind of score can you get out of your TJ these days, 1400?
-
ramp score of 1000, wow!
I'll bet you're momma's proud of you now.

1525 via fork lift, I think it could've gone more but the forklifts owner/op was getting nervous about flipping my Jeep on it's lid inside of his wharehouse, that and one of the front springs was about to fall out, I've made some suspension changes since.
