Title: rear axle noise

88 Jeep YJ-4.2L 5speed-I have a clicking noise when I start out in either first or second-the Jeep was towed on a car dollie b4 I got it-also there is a whine with it when I am steady on the gas-any info would be great-

Click should be a u joint.

Whine is poorly set up gears, or worn out gears.

First place to start is pulling the driveshaft and diff cover.

Check the ujoints for seized or slack. Check the rear gears for backlash, bearing preload, and spider gear condition.
