Title: WJ Front diff noise....
Post by: corsjeep on September 01, 2016, 12:27:54 PM
04 Wj, 4.0, full time 4wd, has a whine that is apparent when you apply throttle (only noticeable 80+km) It's not super loud, but noticeable just the same. It's dead quiet while coasting. Popped the front diff cover, no shavings, fairly clean oil, no pinion movement at all. Refilled with Mopar diff oil and pretty much the same.

So is any noise "normal" for these?? I just recently bought this rig for my son for a winter driver, he does a fair bit of highway driving.

Thoughts? Maybe I'm expecting too much quiet out of a 12yr old Jeep with 200K lol.
