After some discussion this weekend on the trail here's the how to for Avenza Maps:
Download: Android (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Avenza) or iPhone (https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/avenza-pdf-maps/id388424049?mt=8) or even Windows 10 (Tablet?) (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/avenza-maps/9nblgggzq7pv)
Once you have downloaded the app you need to have maps in it before you head out (You will download the maps over LTE or Wifi data)
Note:
To install the Ghost and McLean georeference maps it works better to have the link already copied:
Ghost Link (http://aep.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/recreation-on-public-land/public-land-use-zones/documents/GhostGeoreferenceMap-May2017.pdf)
McLean Link (http://aep.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/recreation-on-public-land/public-land-use-zones/documents/McLeanGeoreferenceMap-May2017.pdf)
Click the plus in the lower right and select "Download or import".
Select "Tap to enter a url..." (https://i.imgur.com/TpQ4GLF.png) and paste in the links from above (one at a time)
Hit ok and you've now imported the map. Once downloaded and processed you can access this map anytime regardless of cellular reception. (https://i.imgur.com/B6yTlOR.png) You must have Location Service turned on to get the GPS functionality.
You can record your own tracks (https://i.imgur.com/gif4gT9.png) and use place markers for key points, trailheads, campsites, etc (https://i.imgur.com/9UkFXWz.png)
You can use the "store" to search for old resource maps that are available for free (https://i.imgur.com/LxoWxZH.png) Some are Free and some aren't (https://i.imgur.com/W677Gae.png)
The Record tracks option and Placemarker features work great with these maps (https://i.imgur.com/7mg4Coq.png) EG: Specifically Limestone mountain: https://i.imgur.com/TIhmMc6.png
Note stay to designated trails if the trail is designated but not on your map that's what I mean by record your trails...

Definitely a sticky.

Ya for sure. I’d already figured this out on my own but great to actually have the process documented here... the old memory is still good but getting shorter! ;)

And.... it’s a sticky 8)

FYI the Ghost and Mclean links no longer work.

The links to specific maps will change 1-2 times a year.
Trails 4 Tomorrow has a resource page that has a link to the main page and step by step instructions to get to the maps.
