I have tried to look this one up but couldn’t find any info.
My Jeep has a T5, with 293 gears and 35s.
Is there a speedo gear for this?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone want to tell me where I might find that info?. Or what I need to know to figure it out myself? Thanks

Maybe reach out to Bill Landry down in Lethbridge, he seems to tinker a lot with the CJ platform.
He’s a member on here and his user name is, wait for it.... Bill Landry

Not sure on the cj’s. You can check omix or crown and see if they any options for your application.

So I still haven’t figured this out, so I thought I would see if anyone can help.
1983 CJ7 Jeep
T5
4.10 gears
35 inch tires
25 tooth speedometer gear
My speedo says between 120-125km when my phone speedo says 100km
I have looked at a couple charts and one says I should use a 31 tooth gear and one says 33.
Not sure which is right. Any suggestions would be great.

Calculate for the proper gear by measuring your tire with a tape measure when it’s mounted on the jeep, don’t go off the size on the tire. I use a gear for a 34” tall tire. Remember the tires wear down too.

And if that doesn’t work… It’s probably easier to just re-calibrate your phone. 8)

I just measured my tires and who knew, 34 inches. Mickey Thompson lied 🤥
Might be cheaper to just recalibrate my phone 👍
So I’m thinking a 34 tooth now? Sound right?
Any suggestions on where to buy one.

Looks like I was going the wrong way. I was recommended going to a 21 tooth gear. Which makes sense since I need the speedo to slow down but the charts say to go to anywhere from 31-34.
This Jeep stuff is confusing 😉
Thoughts?
Also where to buy one, I can’t find a 21 tooth yet

So I think the advice I was given went the wrong way. He said that it is about one tooth per 5 km. So I think it should be a 29 tooth gear. That one I can find. Does that sound right?

Does omix or crown have gears for yours?
-
Omit does, I couldn’t find it on Crown.
My main issue is what size to get.
I now have been told, and read, from sizes 29-34. I don’t feel like buying these more than once. Hoping to get it narrowed down here.

Is there not a calculator or graph showing which one to use?

There are a few, and they seem to vary. I’m not sure which one is correct.

Can you confirm your diff gear ratio?

I opened up the diffs a couple weeks ago. 4.10s

According to the graph on quadratec you need a 34 tooth gear.

Ok thanks, I called 4wheelparts and they said 32 through western. One of the guys on this forum says it’s about 5km per one tooth, so he really recommend the 29 based on me having a 25 tooth now and my speedo is high by about 20-22 km.
If it is one tooth per 5 km a 34 tooth should make it 45km slower on the speedo. Which would take me down to 80km while doing a 100km on my phone.
Sounds like I might have to buy a few and try them out.
