Title: Jeep question for all jeepers
Post by: hps4evr on October 02, 2021, 02:49:02 PM
Should they stretch the wheelbase on the 2 door wrangler?
4 doors are so popular and I’m not seeing a reason why a 2 door needs to be so short. I like the length of my XJ at 100” wheelbase. The new 2 door bronco is 100” wheelbase as well.
Comment? Discuss? Thoughts?

The 2 door LWB JK prototype they built way back when was the perfect size, very similar wheelbase as the TJ Unlimited's.
If they built that now I would have chosen it without hesitation over my 4 door.

There is a kit available to stretch the 2 door JK’s now and Bestop even has a soft top specifically made to fit it.

Maybe pick up a wrecked one and stretch it.

Yeah I watched that stretch conversion one weekend a couple months ago. I think I still have it sitting on my PVR. it’s very interesting, albeit a lot of work and I lose my hardtop.
Definitely a consideration new but guessing it would be a tough sell production-wise.
Now a 2dr extended cab pick up… That would be cool!  8)

There was a series on Four Wheeler TV where Ian Johnson builds a LJ from a tube kit. Could always go that route too.
