I know I'm looking to get out on Sunday again...i hope you know your way around some trails because I sure as hell don't!  I know a buddy with an 06 Rubi that just put a budget boost in and would probably want to test it out.

But I get to pick which bumper I rip off.  8)
Title: Re: July 19-20
Post by: SwampSinger on July 16, 2008, 03:57:11 PM
You guys shouldn't be hooking anything directly on a bumper unless it's properly braced on the frame or unibody.

You would be surprised how much a tow strap stretches.....Next thing you know, you have a bumper coming right in the windshield. You can kill someone like that! >:(

Please if you rip anything... pick it up and bring it back home. There enough garbage out there,,...better...if you see garbage, please pick it up.

have fun & be safe out there...things can turn ugly real quick.

Cheers,
Dom

Post by: LAHAL on July 17, 2008, 01:48:52 PM
i'll be there as soon as possible, i gotta pick up my brother first. his first time riding navigator, and my 3rd time on the trails. we will have a few people with nav systems, we will be fine, and if it gets to tough, will just find another route.

i'm gonna see if i can get mrbeggins to join us, he knows lots of trails.

Post by: Alak on July 17, 2008, 10:31:05 PM
Should be pretty good. I can't imagine much fuss on the trails, but I've seen some pretty mild runs turn scary. Just keep your wits about you.

I couldn't tell you the name of any of the trails and I been up and down maclean a few times.

I just call them:

Hey, you remember that trail we did where I got stuck for 2 hours last june ?

Or

Hey remember where we met that guy who flipped his quad in the winter ?

Post by: RUBI on July 18, 2008, 10:59:04 AM
I'd like to see this  "Top of the World"  Myself  ;)...............anybody else been here that might want to come or possibly lead the way ???
That and some info on trail condition and what to expect or possibly nesc gear ......i.e. recovery gear or min requirements ( winch, tow points, tire size..etc) ???
Title: Re: July 19-20
Post by: LAHAL on July 18, 2008, 12:42:32 PM
i know mudninja has been there. and he's riding in a stock 08 rubicon, and he made it. so i'd say we shouldn't have a problem. we also had a stock TJ Sahara, on 31's that made it.

and all we had last time was, tow points, tow straps, shackles, and 2 guys with winchs (to get mudninja out of the mud, LOL :D) but i think he has a winch now.

we should be good to go, and it sounds like well have a few people, so we always ride "no jeep left behind" rule.

Looking forward to taking off the softtop, suppost to be AWESOME weather this sunday, CAN'T WAIT.

If I'm still in town (looking more and more likely  Grin), I'm up for at least one day, and maybe two. Who's planning on running on Saturday? Sunday?

Mostly stockers again?

I've got one of the good maps that Mr.Beggins had last Sunday and have tweaked my GPS to provide good navigation information.

I think that at least one person with a winch would be a very, very good idea.

I'd like to take a step down in intensity/hole size/amount of winching needed/pucker factor from Fisher East. That's a long, long day.

Im supposed to be headed out late morning tomorrow

stock with 31's

also a stock tj

and a tj with 33's

the guy with the 33's has to pick up a trailer in the morning first, then we head out

After talking with my GF, we're liking the Saturday idea more and more.

What sort of time were you thinking of meeting at the store on Saturday?

I'm pretty flexible in terms of what we run, as long as we don't get into the stoopid stuff.  :o
Title: Re: July 19-20

I'm still a go for Sunday (only day off)  I don't care we go as long as I get out !!! Read that as anything fromMild to Wild  ::)
Title: Re: July 19-20
Post by: Alak on July 18, 2008, 09:07:01 PM
Im go for sunday, also my only day off. I'll be there bright eyed and bushy tailed. Im about as equal as a new rubicon, minus lockers and that incredable flex. Im not afraid to try new stuff, I just dont want to trash the crap out of my rig.

Use it...but, don't abuse it !!!  That's my motto !!!  ;)
Like I said before.if there's an easier way, I'll go around and pull you out from the otherside !! ::)
How is everybody set up for Sunday run ??? Ability wise of ur Ride ???

Mine used to be a daily driver....but,   :oALAS.....I could not afford to fuel this OINKER with the mileage I put on daily in my commute. :'(

I didn't notice a time for Saturday (might be going a bit myopic), but if we're back soon enough, we're game. We have a once-a-year BBQ on Saturday in the NE at 5PM.

The little guy loves offroading and I've been up to top of the world a couple of different ways.  Not into trashing the vehicle etc., still my DD! :D

So I'll aim for the store at 9:30!

Pat

It looks like we'll be meeting at the store in the 10:30 ballpark. Hopefully that'll work with everyone's schedule. I think we're all on the same wavelength about making sure that our Jeeps can leave McLean under their own power  :P

Back to bragg for a late din ;)

sounds just right to me :D

going to an easy trail ride

Unfortunately one of the crew has to pick up an offroad tent trailer in the morning from the RV place,.. that's why the late start.

It's ok,.. we can still get a good 7 hour trail ride in and still have the sun out.

Besides I'm bringing my bbq out for a nice late bbq burger lunch around 1:30-2ish
