The Four Wheel Stampeders once again early, but a July announcement will give everyone a chance to get the word out and set the day aside for the 7th annual Toys for Kids Christmas Cruise. I know I know, Christmas isn’t exactly on everyone’s mind when its 25 degrees out.
I’m pretty sure we’ll be meeting in Bowness Park again prior to the convoy, but more details will come along closer to the date.
Looking forward to seeing a bunch of people there be they new or old hat to the event.

Pending diaper catastrophe....we're there!
-
Is there a date yet ?
-
Most likely on the 7th of December, but I'll confirm that.
-
I had lots of fun last year ;D....
It's for the Kids!!... It's far away but Bonnie and I will plan to be there.
Thanks for the heads up Hi Lo... (PS:...I "stickied" the tread)
-
I can't be sure at this time but plan on attending if I'm around the city. Thanks, Doug

Just was wondering if there is anyway we can get some magnet door signs to let people know what is going on when we are driving to the hospital and all the people on the sides are wondering why all the 4X4's are being police escorted, it may help bring more people out the following years or even bring in donations.
-
hey gang
im new to the site and this jeep community
i was wondering if someone could explain what this is all about to me. :)

It's your basic toy drive. Everyone shows up at the park in Bowness in their rigs with toys... some people dress their rigs up with Christmas decorations. Then we all convoy up to the Childrens Hospital to drop the toys off. It's a pretty good time for a good cause.
-
and how do we get the toys. new or used?

Great idea, now if I'd seen this before our magnetic sign guy moved to Ontario.... he hasn't unpacked yet and it's a ways away...

I have a sign guy in chapparral
he does magnetic

People are encouraged to decorate thier rigs with Christmas decorations. If everyone would take the time to do that I bet most people we see along the way would realize it's a Christmas type event and not a bunch of 4x4's being escorted out fo town. ;)
I've often thought we should charge everyone $20 dollars to enter the convoy and if you put some decorations on your rig you get your $20 back. Incentive. :)
-
great Idea!... ;D
-
ok im put'n a tree with lights on it on my hitch basket
-
that sounds like fun :D
maybe if I still have the ZJ,.. the wifey can drive that and I can drive the YJ,... LOL
So,.. how does this work anyways?
how are toys donated? what is the drive plan?

The time has come to fill everyone in on the details, or at least as many as we can for now. The Four Wheel Stampeders invite all 4x4 owners out for the 7th annual Toys For Kids Christmas Cruise
Sunday December 7th
9:00-12:00
Bowness Park
The Toys for Kids Christmas Cruise will once again begin at Bowness Park, where we’ve met many times before. Meet at the park at 9:00 for those that need the time to decorate their vehicles in the proper Christmas type decoration. Judging will be carried on for the best decorated rigs once all are finished. 10:00 we’ll break out the coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts for around the campfire. 11:00 for a brief drivers meeting and introductory. At12:00 noon we pull out, hopefully under police escort once again.
Bring a new unwrapped toy for donation to two recipients this year. The Alberta Children’s Hospital and the Cerebral Palsy Association. Both are very appreciative of the past proceeds and are looking forward to working with us again this year.
The convoy will be taken to the Alberta Children’s Hospital and the rest of the toys will be delivered to the Cerebral Palsy Association the next day.
Due to the event being a Christmas event, and traffic will be stopped as the convoy goes by, it would be awesome to see each and every vehicle with some type of Christmas decoration. This not only shows the stopped traffic that we’re not getting escorted out of town but indeed are participating in an organized event.
I really hope to see as many 4x4’s as we have forum board users out for this event.
I look forward to seeing everyone once again.
I’m going to post a few links for wish lists if anybody needs some ideas for gifts.
Gunther
I'd like to encourage someone from the CJA executive or the membership to bring along the CJA club banner to hang up in Bowness Park. I've mentioned this in previous years too but no one takes the opportunity.
-
ok dose CJA even have a banner if we do, BRING it... im in for this event in honer of my sister in-law being 14 that stayed at the childrens hospital and lost her leg cause of cancer in jan 08 she was a dancer and figure skater. as well for the other children.
-
Man you guys are hard-core down south, it's only October and you're already planning the December events...guess I better start rallying the northern AB crew and get our run planning going if we're going to keep the rivalry going! ;D
-
Tis the season Trap. Our firm's 2009 calendar is ready to go to press and just yesterday I was designing this year's annual Christmas card for a large Alberta based transport company. Let me know when you have Jeep Toy Run posters and materials ready and I'll get them printed again.
-
I'll have to get the lists of toys suggested by the Alberta Children's Hospital and the Cerebral Palsy Association up on this site this afternoon so people have a good idea of what to look for.

Went and spent a small fortune on toys tonight. What are you guys doing to decorate your rigs? How many strings of LED lights do you think would run off an inverter without wrecking a battery?

Led lights are very efficient,.. I think each one is something like .03 watts?,.. so even a 150watt inverter should be ok for a couple of strings.
I'm going to use my 1000 watt inverter,.. LOL
-
BUMP for this coming weekend
on Saturday i had my company xmas party @ shanks south. we did mini special olympics. we sold mulligans for $2 a pop.
we made $178.00 for the xmas toy run
Sundance Radio Communications (http://www.sundanceradio.ca) has matched the amount.
