Title: Picking up tcase for swap, any suggestions?
Post by: stoggy97tj on August 07, 2008, 10:25:47 AM
Being new to my tj experience i have never changed a transfer case......

I have it on a 2.5l 5speed combo and i finally got my replacement transfercase.  Can anybody tell me any suprises i might be expecting?

The hanes manual just says remove with transmission then seperate but i dont want to do that.

I have a fair bit of light duty GM stuff but dont know how it will differ.

Any suprises i can avoid will be appreciated!

Just support the tranny, remove the skid plate and then remove the t-case, 6 bolts I believe.  A coffee cup with some show towels or something over the tail housing will provide you from spilling oil all over the place when you pull off the t-case

Right on I was hoping the spillage would be down to a min.   But I picked it up today and everything looks alright, I told the guy it was for a 97 tj and according to his "interchange" book one off a 2000 will bolt on so thats what i got.....

Hopefully it will work without any problems
