Disabilizing the clutch-in ingnition system
« on: January 22, 2009, 08:23:28 PM »
I want do not want to have to depress the clutch to start the my 2005 Jeep TJ.  The owners manual explains the process to disable it by installing the fuse in #28, but I believe this will only disable it when in 4wd low.

Has anyone figured out a way to permentally disable it?

Thanks for the help.

Installing the fuse should disable the clutch safety switch completely allowing the Jeep to start without pressing the clutch regardless of t-case or tranny position.

Should work in any vehicle with a manual tranny.

Can't remember if I pulled or put in a fuse, but its in the manual.

Just don't forget to put the tranny in neutral, otherwise you'll be amazed at how much the heep jumps when the starter kicks in!

I tried to put the fuse in, but there is only a plastic there, no metal contact.  So I still have to put the clutch in to start the Jeep.

Can I wire up the fuse box in the engine easily?  Plus I am not sure why there is a spot listen on the box, and in the owners manual, but then it does not work in real life, strange.

I am curious how many guys have done this and find it to be a huge help to them??

I can see the benefit of restarting on a hill or something....but how else does this benefit you or your rig??

lean in, start it up, instead of jumping in, and starting up. faster, so i don't freeze my arse off when it is -30*C out. :o ;D
