CB choice? Any recomendations?
« on: March 28, 2009, 09:01:33 PM »
Been browsing through the old posts and I was wondering if technology has changed much. What do you recomend for group trail rides for CB radio?

Jeeps almost done, just going to bolt on custom recovery points and gusset up rear bumper, final recommended accessory would be a CB. Please advise on a good choice for radio and antenna. Thanks in advance.

I opted for the wilson adjustable 4' antenna and cobra 19dxiv  I bought my radio at the flying J at the south end of barlow for 70 bucks (cheaper than walmart)  I'd recommend getting a good antenna and cable though.  The guy at the radio shop at the road king truck stop at the north end of barlow knows his stuff.

Btw, I'm sure "the guy" knows his stuff....but I bet he doesn't work there 24/7.  What is his name, in case inquiring minds want to venture that way?  :)

Actually.... I think he does work there 24/7 .. or at least whenever its open.  I think its a small ma&pa type operation, everytime I've been in the same guy is there.

Robin is right. The cb place at the RoadKing is called COMTEK SERVICES, and the old asian fellow is always there!
He's pretty helpful and has a large selection of cb's. He will also help tune for free.

There used to be a small cb shop downtown on 14th street and 12ave sw? I haven't been there in a few years. They did cb sales and installations...not advertised in yellow pages or anything. Can people help out with this one?

Comtek at Road King is Dean Allen.

Tel / Fax: 403-272-7717
Cell 403-852-6315

Love my Midland handheld purchased from him. Works like a damn in the Jeep but I can also click on the lower battery pack and portable antenna (as shown) and walk into the bush with it.
