YJ Steering Stabilizer Broken Bolt
« on: April 05, 2009, 05:24:19 PM »
Hey Guys...

While in the process of replacing my stabilizer, I broke the bolt in the bracket on the leaf spring side.  I cannot get at it to drill out, without having to drop the entire axle.

Anyone know of a bracket or another mounting location I could utilize?

Thanks for any help.

Jay

is it a bolt that you attach the damper to or does the bolt go through a hole and you just broke the bolt? i own a yj and i cant even remember.  just as long as the damper can move through its entire range without hitting anything. and is set in the middle position while the wheels are straight. weld in a similar bolt in a similar spot and all should be well. if it makes any sense.

The bolt goes through the damper and screws into the bracket welded on between the leaf springs and axle.

Well....

After using my brain instead of my mouth, I figured i could get a bracket made up to go over top of the leaf springs.

Question...

Anyone know a good spot to go to get a bracket made up?

Thanks for the patience guys...I'm new to the Jeep world, and figured I would have a project this summer.
