Swaybar keeps shifting to the left?
« on: April 23, 2009, 05:15:08 PM »
A bit about my jeep. 03 TJ, 2in suspension lift and a 2in body lift, no rear swaybar (wich i want back on), 33's, quick disconnects (front) stock running gear.  Has anyone ever had the same issue?

If you still have the stock front trackbar the axle is slightly shifted to the left due to the lift.

The swaybar will eventually center itself with the axle.

If you install an adjustable trackbar and center the axle, you'll find the swaybar will work itself back to the center.

After all that rambling, I've had 3 lifted Jeeps with the stock trackbar and slightly offset axle and never had a problem arise from it, I say drive it and not worry about it..

Thank you very much!   The only issue I have is when i disconet the end links they don't line up to the pegs on the frame unless the swaybar is strait!  So I need to get adjustable links to shift the axle.  How much is that worth?

JKS makes adjustable sway links.  I think they're $100+ though.  Not sure who else makes adjustable ones, lots of other companies makes quick disco links set to various lengths, they usually have a range for lifts, like 0-3" or 3-6" or whatever.

Instead of buying an adjustable trac bar you can recenter the axle be re-drilling the lower bolt hole on the axle about 1/2"-3/4"  to the right.

I am such a newbie when it comes to jeeps. I just switched over from the import scene had enough of that!  Love the 4x4 way better!  Back on topic is there any place the people in this club kinda meet so someone could point me in the right direction on how to do what you have explained?
