AX 15 Tranny Fluid
« on: May 05, 2009, 09:08:32 PM »
Can anyone suggestion something thats safe/good to use in this transmission besides pennzoil syncromesh and 10w30 motor oil.  I find both of these to be too light.

Cheers,
Duncan

Redline MTL or MT90
My greatest fear is that when I die, my wife sell all my stuff for what I said I paid for it.

Where do you get that stuff?  I cant find redline at C-tire, Partzone or Autovalue, and Im worried about 80w90 because everything that ive seen says its a GL5 equivalent and Ive heard GL5 eats syncros.

(ps in case anyone is confused, I accidently made the first post under my brothers username)

You can find RedLine ar Mopac or Performance Parts Warehouse (on 32ave NE). Both redline synthetics are GL2 compliant if you are concerned with the brass syncro thing. It's about $14-$16 a quart. Mine took 4.

I have always used GL-5 in mine and I have never had a problem.  I have asked a couple people about this and they have said go with what the manufacturer says, GL-5.  I think the redline website shows a break that 97 and older is fine for GL-5, but 98 and newer required GL-3 or something

Just get regular dino oil, 80w90 from any parts store and they usually are about $5 / bottle.  I think the AX-15 has about a 3.3L capacity
