1997 tj engine swap

i know this is a newbie question but i was just wanting to know if i swap out the 4cyl in my tj for the 6cyl will it mate up to my 5 speed  or will i need the tranny from the 6cyl. if any of you guys could help me out that would be great.

The 6 cyl will make mince meat of that AX5

In addition to just slipping the new engine between the framerails..................

You will need to re-locate the engine mount brackets on the frame ( cut & weld )  . A couple of  sundry items need to be replaced and or reworked , like  drive shafts , transfer case and transmission , wiring , ECM  , rad & heater hoses  , power steering hoses ,exhaust work and radiator , to name a few.

Maybe a few other things I haven't thought of .

The radiators are the same and don't need to be changed.  Your best bet is to get a complete engine, tranny, and t-case plus the under hood wiring harness and computer.  I used a 94 XJ as a donor vehicle for a 4.0L swap in my 95 YJ

thats what i was thinking i just had to ask the experts firts still pretty new to the jeep thing
