Tranny Shop/Rebuilder - NEED A GOOD ONE
« on: June 05, 2009, 11:26:04 AM »
Here's my story.

I've got a CJ7 with a AMC 360 and a tf727 tranny behind it in the jeep now.  The 360 turned into a heavy smoker and needs a rebuild OR replacement.
A buddy of mine basically gave me a rebuilt 318 from a dart (only 8000 KM's on it) and it's a beautiful motor.  Same block as the 360 so she'll bolt right in.
The problem is this, the current 727 which is a pretty fresh rebuid as well, won't match up to the 318 because it's the AMC bell housing.  It's also one of the transmissions that is one peice. so swapping the bell houseing is not an option.  That leaves me with having to find a Chrysler 727.

At any rate, I found one but it'll need a rebuild and rear output changed on it.  Parts can come from my current 727 as it's in pretty good shape and already marries to the dana 300.

so in a nut shell, is there a good shop in town that does this kind of work (Custom) or is there someone out there that can do it for me for peanuts and beer??

Alternatively, if anyone wants to swap an amazing rebuilt 318 for a very good rebuilt AMC 360....let me know.
