dana 44 for 97 tj
« on: June 11, 2009, 06:14:43 PM »
hey guys im ordering complete dana 44's from northridge within the next few months here and i have a quick question, the axles do not come with brakes, and its 450 extra dollars for the tera flex disc brake conversion. Will the brakes off my 30/35  work on the 44's? If not, would it be hard to find some brakes from pnp and put them on? what do you all think is my best option. I could always not be a jeep bugger and just pay the extra 450 bucks i suppose. whatchya all think? Thanks.

If it was me.... I would not cheap out. Do it right the first time. My $0.02.
if we were smart with our money we wouldn't own Jeeps.
Here's your cup of STFU... ENJOY!

exactly which dana 44's are you getting? i think some aftermarket pre-built dana 44's dont come with brakes because you re-use your old ones front and rear. id look into that part.

Id say drop the coin on fancy brakes for the front (your current setup is underpowered anyways) and then scavenge a rear drump setup from somewhere as rear brakes dont really do crap anyways.

You should be able to swap your D35 brakes over to the D44 on a drum setup.

ZJ rear discs should work as well.................

just wondering, does that axle come with perches installed?  for a TJ?

yeah it comes with everything to be directly bolted into the TJ. not bad pricing either, with lockers and chromoly shafts, you can order the rear with the disc brake conversion but theres no option to order brakes for the front, so i assume i just use the oens from my 30, but i dunno.
