Key Question
« on: November 02, 2009, 09:16:16 AM »
Hi guys
I only have the one Grey key that I can find for my TJ, I went to crappy tire to get one cut, and they said it had a chip in it and I had to go to the Dealer.  Is this true?
If so, are some dealers cheaper than others?

Yes it's true.   If you go to a dealer prepare to pay pay pay.  If you can wait you're better off grabbing a key off ebay.   Once you have they key in hand you'll probably still need to go to the dealership to have it programmed.  I think most of the DIY programming instructions I've seen require 2 keys to program extra ones.
