Hunters out there...
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:25:43 AM »
Hey guys/gals,
Anyone know about snow goose hunting?
School me as i have an American that wants to come up here and do that. He is the retired cop that i bought my jeep from. Very nice guy.
Help me out with how one actually accomplished goose hunting.
Thanks

Was he grinning when he asked? Retired folks from here migrating to the south for the winter are referred to as Snow Geese down there. (due to hair color) ;D

http://www.albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/   give him the bag limit page for birds on that link and he'll be able to find out about US folks hunting up here.

He would be classed as a non resident alien in the regulations.

guess he didn't kill enough people during his career huh.  makes me sad.  tell him to buy a jeep and enjoy the beauty of the wilderness instead of killing it.

Are those the words of a true vegetarian? There are those that also beleive carrots feel pain too. Hunting isn't just about a kill. At least not for me. It's also about getting out even more than the average person to enjoy the back country, and seeing things most people might not.

Nice Al. i guess that slaughtered cow you are eating or the murdered birds that make your chicken wings don't count as they came from the supermarket  ::)

Anyways,
Thanks Gun. i read through the non resident alien stuff but i do not see geese listed? or are they considered waterfowl?
Do you know anyone that hunts geese (if permissible)?

You most likely saw that last link tinkerer posted. Go down far enough and they even give a discription of a Snow Goose compared to a Swan. A little further down that link and you'll see a 20/day, 60 possession limit for Snow Goose.

I'm not a bird hunter but I think the season is closed. Honestly not sure though.

You might get some information from Kirk but he may just be upland game birds.  Other than that I don't know of any specific goose hunters.
