9" VS JK44
« on: March 10, 2010, 07:13:39 AM »
Hey guys,

A buddy of mine is looking to pick up a better axle then his D35.
Just wondering what your opinion is between going with a 9" or a Rubi JK 44 rear axle?
From what we figure...
9" cheap and plentiful, good clearance, low pinion location (he has 6" fabtech kit), lots of aftermarket support.
44 $1000, locker, disc brakes, park brake, higher pinion location, aftermarket support

Any thoughts?

Are you sure about the pricing on the Rubi JK 44?

I kinda think that they're a nice axle...but they're not cheap, and there are not a lot of JK's sitting around pick-a-part.

I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

No real comparison. Its like comparing a chevette, to a corvette. The rubi 44 really isnt the same class as a dressed up 9".

That said, it depends on what the guys needs, and budget are. The jk 44 will be a relaible axle wheeled hard on 35's, or baby'd on 37's.

The 9" will be reliable with up to 500 hp and 42's.

In the end, what does the guy need, and what can he spend.

Totally agree with bill.

JK's "Dana 44" is a joke.
