Bright light indicator?
« on: March 27, 2010, 09:30:56 PM »
Have a '91 cherokee laredo, every  dash light works, except the high beam indicator.  I pulled the whole dash apart and the circuit panel near where the high beam light  "plugs in" seems to not be sticking down.  Tried a new light already.
Any suggestions? As I am tired of being "that guy who forgets to dim his lights".

If it seems like a good idea at the time it probably isn't!

Does it have a daytime running light module (DRL)? This is what makes your headlights stay on during the day. When this module dies it will keep your headlights on all the time, even when the vehicle is off. The way people get around this is by unplugging the module but you will lose your high beam indicator.

Not sure on My TJ it was on the firewall. I got one at PNP from a Dodge Van it was by the battery. I would think a google search might help you out on this one.

Passenger side  corner  on the fender...

Mine got so hot it almost caught on fire .... take that crap off or replace it right way. Next ...your head light will  stay on and it might burn your Jeep down

transport canada mandated all vehicles sold in canada after model year 1989 have DRL installed from the factory.  your 91 has/had them.
2000 TJ Sahara - Sold
2006 Lincoln Mark LT - Bassani Exhaust
2007 Harley Davidson F150 - Nothing to note.

So my jeep does not have a DRL.  it has the input like stated.  Where would I go about picking one of these module up?  Rather not go to a stealership and the guy at crappy tire says they don't have them.

I removed my drl module when i rewired my headlights to run the 100 watt high beams and the drl would put the lightd on high all the time. So i jumped the terminal pictured in swampsingers hand with one wire so the the high beam indicator would come on. Can not remember witch terminal it was  but both where one of the smaller ones. There was a little trial an error setting it all up with a test light to get it to work.

Awesome idea  ;D, worked like a charm.  It was the bottom right small one and the bottom left large one.
