Yes sir... for the summer anyways.. there are more trails open in the winter. There are signs out there with a jeep and a snow flake...these are the winter trails.

We are always working to get more trails open. Wheel safe and respect the land..it always helps our cause.

Thanks for asking

Cheers!

I thought that sign meant you could take the trail on any month Alberta receives snow. ;)

Went out on Sat and was quite pleased with the bulk of the trucks I saw. Not saying there were not any mis-behaving, but sis not witness it. I did see quads and bikes however in the middle of nowhere or cutting across areas. One fellow on a quad had about a five year old on the back (way to teach). I also saw alot of unplated bikes, somehow they need to learn that this is part of what damaging our trail system and penalizing all of us.

lots of guys have plates that aren't in places you would look for.
tied to the spokes, back of knapsacks, front headlight plate, inside the knapsack, running along the rear fender, etc.

Unfortunately, the govt gave dirtbikers about 12kms of singletrack trail. This, like the 65kms allotted to 4x4's,
has caused some riders and 4x's to do trails no longer...open.

Making good citizens look like 'criminals'.

Just saying...

I agree with you arse well, as i only saw a few off trail and suspect there was other in trucks too. The good part was that I saw nobody chewing stuff up. Lets open more trails, maintain them and teach awareness. If we need to remove alcohol, im ok with it.

Do those signs with the Jeep and snowflake mean those trails are only open in the winter?  I was up at Margaret Lake on Tuesday and drove all the way to the lake.  I wasn't sure what those signs meant.  Someone please clarify.  Thanks.

Yes. I believe those trails are only open from Dec.1 to March 15.

Why are they only open Dec1 to Mar15?  And what's keeping everyone from driving on them?  I am from BC and do not understand???  HELP.

The reasoning is to drive them only when the ground is frozen and snow covered to avoid damage.  Of course, using THAT criteria, all trail SHOULD be open in the winter.....but they are not.

The law is all that is stopping people.....

Signage is very poor, IMO.....

My suggestion is to go somewhere else....  Any forestry areas that are not FLUZed.....

Forestry Land Use Zone.  A piece of legislation passed in the early 80,s to manage certain controversial forestry areas.
