CKMA12 install - tips & tricks?
« on: July 08, 2010, 11:29:30 AM »
Hey guys... got a CKMA12 install on my list of things for the Stormtrooper this weekend.

If there are any tips/tricks/things-I-would-do-different-next-time-things that anyone is willing to share, that'd be great. Probably the biggest variation is the 12V ignition and dash light tie-ins for most, it seems.

Thanks!

I don't have the ARB, I have a Viair.
But I mounted mine in an army surplus .50 ammo box, with the hinged locking lid. This way the compressor stays dust free and dry when it's not in use. And when I fire it up, I just open the lid, this way it gets clean, cool air.

But with my air setup, I have the gauge and master on/off switch on the TJ dash where the passenger airbag shutoff switch would go.

If you're plumbing into an air tank, then maybe a front and rear takeoff with quick-couplers so you don't have to carry longer air lines?

Good luck, you'll like that compressor, with the integrated pressure switch and all.

Thanks. Great idea. It seems to be the compressor of choice for recent buyers, so hopefully some of them will respond as well. :)

PS. I think I posted in the wrong forum originally - apologies.

I just installed one of these. Pretty straight forward. Just follow the instructions. If you mount it on the drivers side watch your lengths on the wire loom, when I was done I had just enough to make it over to the battery. Also the daystar style switch doesn't quite fit in the opening that the stock switches do you might have to file out some material. The ring crimp terminals that ship with the kit are way to big for the battery post, I would pick some up that are the right size and get some good heat shrink to give you a good watertight connection. Good luck. If you need a hand shoot me a PM

I've heard of some guys mounting under a driver or passenger seat, staying secure and pristine.

I'm guessing that might complicate connecting to lockers when the time comes?
