Tire Help
« on: February 24, 2006, 03:21:31 PM »
So I was out on this wicked hard trail this morning, some of you may have heard of it...Trans Canada Highway! Was heading west and when I got just pas Sibbald Creek Road I spun a 720 went down into the ditch and up onto the barbwire. Took out three fence posts. Not too much damage, few scraps, busted tail light snapped CB antenna. So here is my question. I ended up with a small slit in the sidewall of my front passenger side tire, I went to fountain tire and they said that they can't patch sidewall holes due to liability reasons...fair enough. So does anybody know or have any experience with putting a patch on the sidewall or putting a tube in the tire? is it worth it or should I stop being so cheap and buy new tires? Also, where can I get this patch or tube installed?
Thanks

IMO, with a sidewall patch you are risking a blowout and thus your safety. I'd get a new tire, or call around for a used one.

Do you not have a spare?

The sidewall integrity has been compromised. I wouldn't run it on the highway. Would be ok for a spare though.
