Wash the mud and crap out, wd-40 it and try it again,.. I have fixed may this way,.. 3 in the last 3 months, one was mine,.... mud is a 4.0 alt killer

i also been eating alternators in my xj so i went and found a xj with a v8 and changed the pully from the old one and put it on the v8 one and it bolted Right in don't know if they are the same but i haven't had a problem yet
