Bushwacker Flat Fender Flares
« on: December 22, 2010, 10:32:46 AM »
Ok I am probably going to go insane looking at stuff for the Rubi.

However I will admit it is fun as hell reviewing stuff and looking at stuff...............my credit card is going to spontaneously combust but meh..........its only money.

I searched and saw lots of thread for sale or wanted but nothing really that said if they were good bad or indifferent.

I was looking at Warrior and a couple of others but my fear with those is that if I catch a steel flare then the weakest part fails..............something makes me think that would be the sheet metal on the Rubi and not a steel aftermarket fender flare.  So I like the Bushwackers............also I like the look of them.

After reviewing a few sites for information JKMagazine or JeepMagazine (I forget witch) says that I can run 35's without a lift (I plan on lifting it soon enough) but I do like the idea of getting bigger rubber on sooner.

So there you have it............anyone running the bushwackers?  What do you like dislike about them?  Anyone have or had them on there rig stock?  If so I would like to see some pics of them if you have them.

Also I figured it was better to get them flares then look into bumpers as certain bumber configurations may not look as good or be as practical if flares are in place.

Tired of my questions yet???  Hope not............and thanks to all of you who respond

I have the bushwackers on my TJ and they have been great.  Survived a bunch of stuff I've thrown at.  I've crunched em and ripped them off.  A little heat and they are almost as good as new.

haha well whenever you want, essentially.  I was going to wait until January to allow people to catch up from Xmas, but if you want something now I can give you the sale price.  If it's in stock it only takes a few days to come in too (give or take some time for the Xmas days off).

the flat fenders come in 07-10 JK 2 door or 4 door, 04-06 Unlimited and 97-06 TJ complete sets (front and rear included).

There are also the pocket style flares, extend-a-flares & cut out flares.

Aggggh...............damn enablers  ::)

After Xmas will do me just fine, I don't want to have to sleep in the Rubi and the wife has been asking what presents are in the boxes that are arriving for me..............boxes from Durham Radio, Susquanna (sp?) Motorsports, Northridge4X4  etc

So I am now sure about the Bushwackers but here is my new dilemma>

I wanted to go with a full width angled approach bumper but now i am worried it will look damn goofy with the Bushwackers vs the stocker flares.

Of course maybe that is a blessing in disguise as it appears the shorties are cheaper than full width.

I don't want to bugger you up...but there are also other flat fender options. Some metal, some plastic, some offering narrow options, some wide options...but very few options offering full tire coverage on a modified rig running 12.5" wide tires. Only one option that offer that that I'm aware of...another thing we can discuss at the run on NYD.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

No worries you won't bugger me up :)

I don't want metal is my main criteria at this point.  Seems to me plastic will make it the point of least resistance and in the case of catching something will rip off instead of trying to pull my sheet metal off too.

How do you take your Timmy's LOL I think I owe you one for all the advice :)
