Wheelin insurance?
« on: November 01, 2011, 09:15:00 AM »
My girl friend mentioned that to take my cj into a mechanic I need to bond my insurance for a couple days off park so it's legal. Does anyone know if you can do the same to take a vehicle off road? Or is there a different method I'm not aware of?
Thanks James

If you only have parking insurance it does need to be changed to be road legal. I think off-road is company dependent, I know that mines covers so long as I'm in a legal area.

Legal off road areas? So do you tow your rig out or drive it?

Best thing to do would be call your insurance company and ask them what would be the best thing for you to do.

We can offer any advice we think is correct, but we don't write the policies for your insurer.

also, you can go to the registry and get a permit or get ama and use them.

i looked into the off road insurance deal and u can get off road insurance but it costs about the same as regular insurance, but now its more like a quad u  dont need a insurance inspection to insure it but it needs to b trailered to the trail and u can only drive it on registered trails not on the roads, so unless u have a straight 4x4 buggy it aint really worth it, especially since u end up having to drive on road to get between trails anyways
