Which auto are you going with? I have a NV3550 and a brand new NV4500 sitting in my garage already. Wether or not the driveshafts fit is going to depend on where your motor mounts end up, and how your tcase is clocked. Not to mention I'm going to be running a D300, most likely set up for passenger side drop.

Besides, I don't think running stock drive shafts is a good idea when you quadrouple the horsepower...

Buying a 44re from John. I originally had a 46re in it when I first did the swap. Changed over to a 96 Ram NV3500....both trans fit perfect with stock transfer case placement. The 5 speed is alot of fun , but upcoming knee surgery would make it undrivable for quite a while. And I must admit, I liked the auto better. If I had gone with a Hemi, stock driveshafts would have been out, as well as the D35. I am rather hard on it. With the combo I have its held up fine, no issues at all. Knock on wood......

Its not as easy as you are making it out to be. Cant be..  Tell me it isnt before I spend money.

I am an LS fan as well, but you must give up most of your gauges. 

Now Hemi swap seems entertaining.  In my 06' I am already planing it.  If the 4.0 coughs, its getting pulled.

In my opinion, ALL jeeps need V8's

Actually it's $148 and you hook four wires up on this baby:

You can either run the stock harness from the donor or you can buy a custom built chopped down one for $5-600 depending on options and PCM tune.

Depending on how much you want to do yourself vs how many thing you want to buy these swaps are almost straight plug and play now.

Isn't the LS1 alot lighter being alum then the others? Not sure of wieghts.

the ls series has many all aluminum engines....

there is all aluminum 5.3's there is also steal bottom end aluminum head 5.3's

that series of engien is crazy they all pretty much inter connect with each other in some way or form...

i know they used to make a sleeve kit for the 6.0l lq4 or lq9  u slam out old sleeves slam in new ones and it was a old school 427 with like 600hp

i just cant say enough about chevy's ls engine program

4.0L is 515lbs, and has 190hp 225ft/lbs
6.0L is 520lbs, and has 316hp 370ft/lbs (with full emissions)

Going from a 2.5L to a 4.0L vs 2.5 to 6.0L
Cut and weld motor mounts: yes/yes
Change harness and computer: yes/yes
Change tranny: yes/yes
Change tcase: no/yes (although you could run a NP231 for a limited time, depending on what tires you ran)
Change axles: no/yes (same deal as tcase)
Change radiator: yes/yes

To do a 4.0L swap is just about the same amount of work as doing a 6.0L swap. I was planning on doing the 4.0 swap but lucked into a complete engine and brand new tranny for dirt cheap. My thought is, if I am going to go through all the effort anyway, why not?

Ok was just checking thanks for info. I have a line on an all alum LS1 out of a vette it was pole fighting only has 22k on it. Get the whole deal harness and stuff aswell not sure a 2wheel tranny will work though. Still researching and collecting pieces but wanted to shed front wieght and can power lol.
