« on: December 24, 2011, 05:35:03 PM »
I heard a Dodge Dakota steering box is a bolt in replacement for my 1987 Wrangler   is that true?    Why is it better, anyone  know?  My steering box is real sloppy I adjusted it and its still sloppy but now stiff as well

It is for the 97 and 98 TJ's........I don't think it is for any of the YJ's
If you are looking for a cheap hobby that will get you out into the woods, collect rocks or bird watch........don't buy a Jeep.

A bit off topic but FYI I found that steering boxes go for around half the price in the US...but don't forget to bring a core...It may actually be worth the drive to Montana...and there's no import duty on US made goods so I only had to pay GST.

The Durango box is said to have a tighter ratio so that it takes less turns of the steering wheel lock to lock.
