How to Locate Rear lower Shock mounts
« on: April 27, 2012, 12:30:31 AM »
Hey everyone, In the midst of a lift/axle swap on my YJ.

Put a RC 4" Kit on to be complimented by the already installed 1" lift shackles.
And a Ford 8.8 out back, The spring perches were a walk in the park to set up.
However I'm running into issues trying to figure out the best way to locate the shock mounts,
Do I:

A) Measure on the dana 35 the distance from the face of the spring perch down to the eye of the shock mount,
Subtract 1" and run with that?

Or

B) Let the axle hang at full droop, bolt the mounts onto the bottom of the shock and burn the mounts in where ever they sit on the axle?

Try to get at least 5 inches of up at ride height. Leafs dont droop much.

The last 8.8 swap I did, I used 6" x 5/8 bolts and came off the ubolt plate. I welded the bolts all the way across the front of the plate and had about 3" of bolt to mount the shock with.
