the $1.00 wj fiasco
« on: June 10, 2012, 11:42:29 PM »
So I bought a 2001 WJ Laredo 4.0l, has 400k Kim,with a new engine installed but the oil pan seal was pinched near the front main. I fixed the jeep and instead of paying the bill thenice old couple  signed it over to me for $1.00,since their son was in jail for possibly 3-5 years.  I got a collext call from remand tonight from the lunatic son, saying when he gets out he's coming here and will be taking his jeep with him. Itold him not to be stupid or he will leave with a shotgun wound and he could take his body parts with him.
Wtf? I'm lost...I reported it to cps, but I don't want anything to do with any of this. They advise me that if I shoot him with a beanbag or salt shot,I can be charged with up to 5 different charges, and report any other calls. I don't know when he gets out,and I'm only a couple km's away from where he is being held.

What's a girl to do? I want this mint wj yet I want nothing to do with the drama. My family comes first but I don't want to screw myself.
Getting grumpier every day.

I assume that when they signed the Jeep over, they were the legal owners? If they were. there is nothing that he can do to get the Jeep back.

However, if they were not the owners, they can't sign the Jeep over to you.

As far as the CPS is concerned, they have absolutely nothing to do with the matter until YOU either put a hole in him or he tries something when he is out of jail. The best bet would be to contact the Calgary Remand Center and talk to someone in the warden's office (403) 695-2100. Make sure they know he has been making phone calls of a threatening nature, best to start the trail early.

Kinda curious how he even got your number.

Yes, they were the legal owners, and a great old couple, trying to do something good for thier dirtbag son...how he got my number is beyond me..most likely from the parents.
I spoke to CPS and will file my PO tomorrow. Should i defend myself by use of force i would be looking at most likely a fine for discharging a firearm within city limits, or illegal use of contraband munitions...fine of $250 or siezure of my beanbag shells/salt&toiletpaper shells. The least of my worries at this point.
I think i should call remand and put a short end to this.

You need to put down the bottle of Baby Duck and chill-out for a bit Aaron. Why do you feel the use of a shotgun is merited to protect yourself ? The former owner wants to go back to the joint over a WJ ? Dude? A WJ ?

Making contact with the police was a good start. Take the WJ over to a friend's house for awhile and have that person store it in a garage for awhile until matters are sorted out. I don't think the former owner/bag of crap will case your home for days hoping to see you and his former ride. Keep a baseball bat next to the front door if it makes you feel better, but get the shotgun idea out of your head. I've had a lot of umm...past problems with firearms in the past so take my advice and get that out of your head. I've got no problems with you defending yourself, your family, and your belongings but just whoop his buttocks instead of putting a hole in them ( wait that doesn't sound right..) you get what I mean.

Since when do you accept collect calls? That's your first problem right there.

Or park it on the street and put a camera on it, and when the a$$ gets out if jail he'll come for the jeep. Let him steel it and have I all on tape.  You keep the jeep,  he goes back to jail.

In this event, I'd think I'd just sell it and be done with the drama.  If they were the legal owners of the jeep, and sold it to you  now your the legal owed of the jeep and I'd sell it and look for another one, or sell it back to the jail bird for a profit. Lol

Aaron do not ever mention use of shotgun ever. This is a public forum.
Do not waste money on beanbag shot. If you are afraid for your life or that of others then use real lead. Do not engage the meth head. Say good bye to him when and if he calls. Have a back up plan for what ifs and do not discuss on public forum or with anyone who could testify against you. Good luck.

sell it on kijiji to someone else.  next time the guy calls tell him it was stolen and you thought 'he' just came and reclaimed his jeep.

not your problem anymore.

also, do all the reporting you've already talked about. paper trails are good.

i'll tell you about plan "B" later.........
