Again, the transplant of a (reportedly) 2000 4.0 into my 1997 Grand Cherokee:
As I connect up the replacement motor, I'm dismayed that pretty much every connector has changed. I stuck with my original wiring harness, and as I've tried to connect it up, I've found differences, piece by piece. I've had to swap over my old distributor pickup, ignition coil, stuff that shouldn't have had to move. Chrysler sucks for doing stuff like this.
Last to go is the intake. I think the TB connectors are actually the same (!), but the injectors are different and hose fittings have been moved around. That's got me thinking I should just swap my old manifold in (at the cost of a gasket) and be done with it. But the new manifold is apparently actually improved - it has a really huge plenum chamber under the TB where the old one has a small chamber. Is there enough to be gained from the new manifold to justify moving my injectors over and make the necessary plumbing changes? That'd save me a gasket too, but that shouldn't be the major consideration
